The HP Deskjet 1110 is a simple and very cheap stand-alone printer. This compact and light machine has no scanner, no double sided duplex, or colour touch-screen. There is no wireless connectivity or application support, so it relies on a USB cable connection with Windows, Mac, or Linux computers. There is no USB cable in the box, so you will need to purchase one separately.
What the HP Desket 1110 does provide however, is a good printer for documents and pictures using the HP302 thermal print head ink cartridges. You get a pair of starter cartridges in the box that will print up to 135 pages black, and 100 pages colour. In reality though, and depending on the paper coverage of each print, these figures are subject to change.
The 60 page paper feed mechanism can struggle with a single sheet, and prefers to be loaded with a small stack of paper. As a result, there can be occasions when the print is misaligned due to the uneven paper feed.
You cannot print directly from smartphones or tablets, and you will have to pay a premium every time you need to replace the ink cartridges. But for the infrequent printer user, the HP Deskjet 1110 offers a very cheap introduction to decent quality printing. It is quick to start printing, and occupies a small desk footprint.
If you use a printer regularly, then we recommend you look at more expensive models with cheaper ink. That is unless you are prepared to refill the HP302 ink cartridge, and for the do-it-yourself minded person, this is perfectly possible. We supply dedicated refill kits for refilling HP302 ink cartridges.
