"Following the massive spending of Christmas, many consumers look for the cheapest printer to buy within their tight budget. Buying the cheapest machine is not usually a very good idea, but we look at three budget printers currently on offer."
The Canon Pixma MG2550S is a similar addition to the MG2550 printer, and provides a print, scan, copy facility. With a printing resolution of up to 4800 x 600 dpi, the Canon is capable of producing nice documents and pictures.
£30 seems to buy an amazing amount of technology, but unfortunately if you use your printer regularly, you wil be paying as you go! A set of two replacement cartridges also cost £30, the same price as the printer! So buying this printer can become expensive, long-term. This is why many owners decide to refill their ink cartridges. We offer a dedicated Ecofill PG545 CL546 Refil Kit containing a suction tool refill clip and instructions for doing this.
The Epson Expression Home XP332 / XP335 printer is one of the latest from the Small-in-One range. This Epson printer uses a different kind of print head to the Canon, and print quality is not quite as good, particularly with text. However, most people will be satisfied with the overall results.
Just like the MG2550S, a set of replacement Epson Strawberry 29 cartridges are a similar price to the printer. However, unlike the Canon PG545/CL546 cartridges, the Strawberry T2991-4 ink tanks cannot be refilled. Fortunately compatible versions are now available, but prices remain high at £20 per set.
Finally the HP Deskjet 2130 All-in-One Inkjet printer uses the HP302 ink cartridges, which again cost a similar amount of money to the printer. So regular printer users should avoid this model and instead consider either an Epson Workforce WF-2510WF, or a Brother DCP-4120DW for cheaper printing. Fortunately the HP302 ink cartridges can be refilled, and we have a dedicated Eco-Fill HP 302 Refill Kit for only £11.99.
In summary, none of the above printers are suitable to regular printer users. They are designed with a lower duty cycle, and for occasional home use. However, Canon and HP printers can be refilled reducing printing costs significantly. In addition, compatible cartridges are beginning to get cheaper for the Epson XP 332 / 335 printers.
