If you don't need a scanner or copier, and want to print high quality photographs, then why not consider buying the Epson Expression Photo XP-55 printer?
The Epson XP55 uses the same Micro Piezo™ print head as the XP-760, offering a resolution of 5,760 x 1,400 dpi. Six individual ink tank cartridges (Epson Elephant 24 / 24xl series Claria Photo HD Ink), plug into the print head unit. The cost per print rate can be quite high, but we sell compatible generic 24xl replacements, and refillable empty arc ink cartridges to replace the Epson OEM Elephant 24 ink.
Modern technology means that the XP55 is not just for use with computers. Advanced connectivity options allow jobs to be printed from tablets, and smart phones. There is also WiFi Direct, meaning you do not have to go through a wireless router. You can also connect a camera using wireless PictBridge, or via a cable.
There are two paper trays, one for A4, and another for photo paper. Both can be noisy when feeding the paper. In addition, there is a rear manual paper feed for thicker card and a tray for printing directly onto cd/dvd discs.
Compared to the Epson Expression Photo XP-760, the XP-55 does not have a colour LCD screen for viewing images, so you can not print from memory cards. There are no scanning or copying facilities, but print quality is very good, and printing speeds are decent.
Overall, the XP55 achieves 4.2/5 review scores, making it a sensible buy for photographic enthusiasts on a budget, and for those who do not require an all-in-one machine.
