Following in the footsteps of the Epson Eco Tank models comes the new Canon Pixma G1500 refillable inkjet printer.
The G1500 features front loading ink tanks for easy refilling. The pigment black tank is located on the left, and the three colour tanks are on the right hand side.
There is no mention of the print head resolution in the Canon product description? Instead, in the print technology specification, Canon list that there are 2 FINE Cartridges (Black and Colour)? This may be listed in error, or is there in fact two separate print head cartridges with tubes going to the ink tanks? However, I feel this to be unlikely as the separate print head cartridges used in cheaper Canon printers have a reduced life-span, compared top the fixed versions in the 5 cartridge printers. We need to find out this information in order to estimate the printing capabilities of this new machine. Hopefully we will soon obtain a test model so that we can investigate the print head technology being used.
The Canon Pixma G1500 is a stand-alone printer (No scanner), which connects to Windows and Mac OS X computers. There is no mention of Wireless or Mobile connection support which we find unusual for a modern day printer?
The G1500 is currently only available direct from Canon for £189 with a two year guarantee. The more expensive Canon Pixma G2500, G3500, G4500 models feature a scanning facilities and wireless printing.4x Canon Pixma G1500 G2500 G3500 G4500 PIGMENT/DYE Refill Ink Bottles Non OEM
